Primary Care Physician

Department: Psychiatrist
Location: Seattle, WA

With over 30 locations throughout the U.S. and treatment options available virtually, ERC Pathlight meets patients where they’re at to offer innovative, compassionate, and comprehensive treatment for eating disorders, as well as mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders.

We were founded in 2008 by physicians and remain a physician led organization treating 6,000+ patients per year nationally. With the critical need for mental health care and eating disorder treatment, we’re looking for passionate and qualified professionals who will live out our mission to help save the lives of our patients.

What you’ll be doing:

The Primary Care Physician provides medical care for individuals in inpatient, residential and partial hospital programs which includes managing complications of their eating disorder, diagnosing illnesses and managing treatment. The Physicians meet with patients, obtain medical histories, and order and interpret diagnostic tests. They work collaboratively with the psychiatric team to provide high-quality health care to patients as a part of the physician-led team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Direct Care Duties:

  • Focus on Superior Patient Care by 1) practicing evidence-based, high quality primary care medicine; 2) encouraging increased patient understanding, involvement in care, and treatment decisions; 3) achieving and maintaining optimal patient access to care; 4) supporting system efforts towards care improvements, standardization of care, implementation of care guidelines and clinical outcomes research.
  • Onsite care at either Seattle or Bellevue sites Monday through Friday. No weekend onsite care. Home call approximately one week per month.
  • Maximum caseload of 60 patients per week, with a mix of admission and follow-up appointments. Patients are in our residential and partial hospital programs for eating disorders and residential program for mood and anxiety disorders.
  • Eating disorder experience not required; we provide mentoring and training on the unique aspects of eating disorder care.
  • Care for patients across the age spectrum. We have child, adolescent and adult individuals in our programs.
  • Completes required documentation thoroughly and in a timely manner. Prepares and maintains complete and accurate charts, case files and records.
  • Collaborate on care delivery by 1) including staff, other physicians, and management in both service and patient care improvements; 2) treating all teammates with respect; 3) demonstrating the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct; and 4) behaving in a manner consistent with company mission and values 5) establishing and maintaining contact with referring providers both within that outside of the system 6) establishing and maintaining contact with family members and patient’s support persons when appropriate.
  • Advocate for patients including providing consistent and timely documentation regarding the patients need for level of care and participating in insurance peer reviews to optimize optimal length of stay for treatment.

Other Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Listen and communicate by providing clinical information in a clear and timely manner; requesting information and resources needed to provide care; provide and accept feedback in a respectful manner from all staff
  • Take ownership by providing leadership to improve outcomes, quality and program quality; work to ensure personal, program and organization compliance with all legal and educational requirements; and steadily improve the efficiency and economic aspects of your practice
  • Focus on clinically relevant outcome measures; change by embracing innovations to continuously improve patient care, program and organizational efficiency
  • Promote positive relationships with fellow employees, physicians, patients, and visitors. Will treat these individuals with courtesy, dignity, empathy, and respect; consistently display courteous and respectful verbal and non-verbal communications.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, receiving current literature, and attending in-service meetings, staff meetings and workshops. Attends, participates in, and contributes to in-services, education, and staff training sessions to maintain/increase skills and teach others.
  • Ensure all duties, responsibilities and competencies are conducted in a manner that is effective and appropriate to patients to whom care, service and treatment is being provided.
  • Receive individual and group supervision from physician and non-physician leaders.
  • Evaluate own performance and recognize opportunities for growth.
  • Provide community education and engage in marketing efforts when requested.
  • For those interested in education, serve as teacher for trainees seeking clinical experience.

Must Haves:

  • MD Doctor or Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required
  • MD Board eligible in in appropriate specialty (board certified preferred) Required
  • Licensed to practice medicine in state of employment or state of assignment Required
  • Completed and met clinical competency standards Required
  • Be an inspirational leader with the creativity and imagination to motivate staff and produce outcomes that move ERC Pathlight forward in achieving its mission and vision
  • Have knowledge of regulatory body requirements (Joint Commission, etc.)
  • Ability to plan, direct, delegate and supervise a diverse workforce of professional and support personnel
